In Loving Memory by mangaman13 In Loving Memory by mangaman13
Just found out about this last night and wanted to pay tribute to one of the greatest minds in the known universe. Unfortunately, I have never drawn any of his characters before :\

In loving memory, Joseph Barbera 1911 - 2006. Your creations have ignited the imagination of countless artists, and will last for generations to come. Thank you for all the memories. R.I.P.

All characters Hanna-Barbera

**begin rant** Lemme just say one thing here: you dunno how hard it is to draw a character you have never drawn before in a sad expression when every single reference pic online is of them smiling, laughing, or just looking happy. I had to wrack my brain quite a while on that! **end of rant**

without Joseph Barbara, we don't have Scooby doo and Tom and Jerry and without Tom and Jerry, we don't have Happy Tree Friends(which is basically Tom and Jerry on Steroids)

I think you captured their sadness very well. Even Jerry wipes Tom's tears away. Very touching.

To me, the world of Hanna-Barbera will never be the same without the two guys who started it all. RIP Bill and Joe, we'll miss you.

I truly miss Joseph Barbera. T_T

The cartoons were so great I loved watching them. And the characters were so cool, too.

May he rest in peace.

That sucked when I heard he died, this is more than enough to warrent a 'ruh roh raggy' from scooby.

Good Job on this, needs to be more tributes like this to the other legends like Chuck Jones.

It's always sad to lose an animation legend, and nearly all of them from the olden days are gone. At least now Barbera is reunited with Hanna in the skies.

Great work!

I say you did a very good and special job at doing Joeseph's characters.
The scene's really sad.

To Joseph and Bill, who made the world fun, exciting, joyful and memorable thru their unforgetable characters.
Legends on the other side.

You should add Captain Caveman and Cavey Jr. if you ever get the chance. But anyway, I had no idea Hanna Barbera worked on Tom and Jerry. I thought it was Warner Brothers. Anyway, this is a great memory of all his accomplishments.
mangaman13 Featured By Owner Jan 7, 2007  Hobbyist General Artist
oh i wont add anything to it. In all fact, there were over a hundred characters and tens of shows I didnt add, I only chose a small assortment of their magical minds. I wish I was talented and PATIENT enough to include em all( I personally wanted to incluse Quickdraw McGraw as El Kabong!) but alas, I gave in!

Wow, that's really well drawn but so sad. :'( You did a great job on it.
R.I.P Joseh Barbera. Truely an awesome guy.
Monkayfun Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2007
Even I said before all legends even the creators of animation who've died of different complications and circumstances lived on forever. We can't be sad forever. We should thank him and Mr. Hanna for their hard work since the 50's to today. For Bill and Joe, we won't forget you and your cartoons. We should treasure your toons for generations to come. WE SALUTE YOU BOTH!

P.S. Great deication art for Joe.
